ABOUT ME

I am currently working at The Maldives National University, as a lecturer in Educational Studies at Centre for Open Learning.

The specific duties I undertake at Centre for Open Learning (COL) includes:

  • Work as the main point of contact throughout the course

  • Provide student-support for individual students and groups where needed. 

  • Conduct orientation programs for new students enrolled in at COL or at the respective Outreach Centers in the beginning of each semester

  • Teach at on and off campuses

  • Conduct and coordinate online forums with students

  • Coordinate the assigned programs

  • Prepare the exam papers, assignment, online tasks and marking schemes

  • Mark the assignments, exam paper and online tasks of the students

  • Assign visiting lectures and provide guidance to them

  • Prepare schedule for the block sessions at COL and at Outreach Centres (ORC)

  • Conduct researches at the university

  • Attend national and international conferences and present research papers

 

I worked at the Ministry of Education, as an Education Development Officer. As the head of Monitoring Unit, under Policy Planning and Research Division, I had undertaken and coordinated the projects specified in the division’s mandate, such as supervising the unit staff’s work and facilitating them, monitoring the implementation of Strategic Action Plan of Ministry of Education, and prepare the status report of Education Manifesto Implementation, collecting  and providing educational statistics needed in the formulation of policies, plans and budgetary proposals, planning and programming the educational facilities with regards to proposals forward by the educational consultants, pursuing support and preparing proposals for the educational needs in priority areas are some of the key responsibilities undertaken.

 

I also worked as qualified Leading Teacher for the business stream at Kalaafaanu School and at Majeediyya School for more than 5 years. During the time of my occupancy at these schools, I taught Principles of Accounts and Mathematics at the secondary level. I am also working as a part-time lecturer at Villa College and teach many modules that are education-related for graduate and post graduate programmes conducted by these institutes.

 

Throughout my career, I taught students from kindergarten to Secondary Level and produced good results at Cambridge International Examinations. I had also been involved in managing a tuition centre for 5 years in my home island, Noonu Velidhoo since 1998 to 2002. i had begun my career formally as a Secondary School Mathematics Teacher at Noonu Atoll Education Centre upon receiving of Diploma in Teaching for Secondary in the year 2005, and at Dharumavantha School in 2006. In addition, I worked as a resource teacher at Madhrasathul Ahmadiyya, Male' English School & at Aminiya School while I was doing my Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Secondary at Maldives National University.

 

I have completed my Master’s degree in Education in the year 2011 at Open University Malaysia. In addition I hold a Bachelor’s degree, and a Diploma in Teaching Secondary from The Maldives National University. Apatr from the teaching side, I had completed certificate level I, II & III courses in Qira'at Holy Quran which is locally known as Qari course, at Centre for Holy Qur’an, Maldives.

 

In my personal life, I am a very contemplative mother of a sweet teenager and cute toddler. I like politics and current affairs. Even though my family is the most important part in my life, I do ,manage to live a composed life along with my profession. I make time for vacation, social networks, watch movies with my daughter, spend play time with my toddler and enjoy outings with my beloved hubby and family.
